Description

Wright Hall is a twelve story residence hall structure constructed in 1964 and houses approximately 420 students. The budget is approximately $7 million to upgrade the aging infrastructure. Some of the upgrades include: installing a fire sprinkler system to better protect the occupants, installing energy efficient exterior windows, upgrading fire detection and alarm systems, and reconfiguring some room layouts. The construction will take approximately one year.

Highlights:

Interior construction activities:

The Wright Residence Hall was renovated and upgraded beginning in summer of 2006. The interior is now substantially completed. The general contractor and other trade contractors are working on their punch lists and continue to make adjustments to the facility as required. University Housing Services has installed new beds, mattresses, and lobby furniture. Students moved into the newly renovated building in August 2007.

Exterior construction activities:

The contractors continue to work on the punch lists for the exterior enhancements of the building. Installation of a new concrete sidewalk on the east side of the building and a new stairway at the front entrance has been completed. (see attached)

The construction fence near the building has been dismantled, and the surrounding ground area has received the final grading and seeding in the last couple weeks. In addition, the contractor continues to work on the exterior lighting.

The architect consultants are working on the concrete patching issues for the canopy at the front entrance and several pneumatic air problems in the building.
