Street and sidewalk closure:

Various facilities and areas are affected by the south campus construction projects: Student Fitness and Kinesiology / Recreation Building projects, the South University Parking Deck Expansion, and the South Campus Power Plant construction projects. Vehicle and foot traffic will be prohibited on University Street, between Dry Grove and Hale Streets for the duration of the Student Fitness and Kinesiology / Recreation Building project. Residents of the South Campus Residence Complex should plan alternate routes.

  • Access to the Thomas Metcalf Laboratory School for student drop off will be maintained. Please consult with the ISU Department of Parking and Transportation for updated information. However, please be aware of the possibility of for periodic traffic disruptions along University Street.
  • The East part of Hale Street between University and Main Streets will be closed in the summer due to infrastructure work associated with the new facility. Vehicular traffic along Hale Street will resume in the fall of 2008.
  • Due to the infrastructure work, there will be no left turn for foot traffic at the south entrance of Fairchild Hall in the summer of 2008. However, Dry Grove Street will resume accessibility in the fall of 2008.
  • In the summer of 2008, the west entrance of Rachel Cooper will be closed temporarily and will reopen in the fall. This disruption is due to the utility work taking place in front of the building and along University Street.
  • There will be no right turn foot traffic at the north entrance of Whitten and Hamilton Halls in the summer of 2008.
